The UK’s weekend edition of the Financial Times always features one photographer’s image and provides some background. This week’s photograph is Don McCullin’s ‘Feet from a Statue of Artemis” which was taken in Istanbul’s Archeological Museum.

Southern Frontiers was published in 2010 – as a single volume, not as a two volume edition as mentioned in the Financial Times article today – and was more recently accompanied by Journeys Across Roman Asia Minor which was published in 2023.

The book had a relatively small print run and sold out at the time of publication and never reprinted. Consequently, Southern Frontiers has become highly collectible and at time of writing there is just one secondhand copy listed on Amazon for an asking price of £1195.00.

Almost all of the images featured across the pages of Southern Frontiers appear in the large format three volume Limited Edition ‘Irreconcilable Truths’ along with a selection of further images from this project that were not included in the original publication.
